• 2003

Hunted Cow Studios Ltd. was formed in September 2003 by Andrew Mulholland (Hoofmaster) and Glenn Murphy (Cowboy) in the small but friendly town of Elgin.

Shortly after its formation, Hunted Cow Studios Ltd released its first games site in November 2003 titled CowPlay. This website offers free multiplayer chess, allowing players from across over the world to play correspondence chess with each other.

  • 2004

Five months later, Hunted Cow Studio Ltd released its second online game titled Gothador. Since its launch, Gothador has rapidly grown to become one of the most popular massively multiplayer online roleplay games available, its engrossing setting and stories drawing in hundreds of new players daily.

Following the rapid success of Gothador, Hunted Cow Studios Ltd released its second title, using the Gothador Game Engine, called SigmaStorm. The dawning of this project led to the hiring of Nick Beal (DocSooty). Iain Mair (Xero) was hired shortly after to work on 3D graphics for Eldevin.

  • The next two games called Eldevin and Solar Fleet are on a much larger scale to our previous games and will hopefully be due for release in the second/third quarter of 2005. Andy was the next cow to be hired, his roles include designing content for SolarFleet, Sigmastorm as well as web design. With the approaching release of Eldevin, Hunted Cow Studios hired John, a highly talented programmer who now codes scripts for the eagerly anticipated title Eldevin.

  • 2005

During this time, development continued on our existing titles, and production started on various other web-based titles.

  • 2006

April 2006 saw the release of Solar Fleet, our web-based space trading massively multiplayer game and also towards the end of the year, Fallen Sword - our largest and most popular game to date!

  • 2007

During this time our working title for our Flagship title was changed from Gothic Ages to Eldevin. We also expanded by taking on a secondary studio as production for all our titles was increased as we increased our team sizes.

  • 2008

We officially launched Eldevin's own website, and celebrated by giving our players an exclusive peek at concept art for some of the game's creatures, as well as some brand new wallpapers to cheer up their desktops in between updates.

This year also saw the release of a brand new game - Sigmastorm II! Inspired by one of Hunted Cow's first 2D MMOs, SigmaStorm Classic, this post-apocalyptic science fiction MMO was a huge hit with existing and new players alike. We were sad to see Sigmastorm Classic come to an end, but the blend of intensive combat, story driven missions and community co-operation in Sigmastorm II proved more than worth it for our science fiction fans who like their game challenging and gritty!

  • To keep up with our growing development and community needs, we added four new members to the team: Xakano, customer support; Zaelin and Big Grim, SigmaStorm II artist and community manager respectively; and Anakiro, Java programmer for Eldevin! You can read more about them on the TEAM PAGE.

As Christmas loomed, we released the very first trailer for Eldevin, which lays the groundwork for the story that will kicks off the adventure for Eldevin players. You can watch the trailer HERE on the Eldevin website!

  • 2009

Our team continued to expand with the addition of Destroyer (Eldevin quest writer), L3fty and Lolz (Eldevin world builders and 3D artists), and OldLace (Fallen Sword and SigmaStorm II artist). For the curious, you can read more about them on the TEAM page. Unfortunately we also had to say goodbye to DocSooty, one of the original Eldevin artists, who moved on to newer pastures.

With all these new cows, Hoofmaster and Cowboy realised we needed a bigger paddock! Plans were drawn up to convert a local store into a brand new, state of the art two-storey studio which would bring the whole Hunted Cow team under one roof. Work officially began a few weeks before the Christmas holidays.

  • This would also be the year we introduced an exciting new feature into Fallen Sword - the Titans! Powerful creatures so huge they could be seen from the world map, the Titans took a whole lot of time and teamwork to bring down, but the prizes and prestige they brought the winning guild or player were well worth the effort. After a lot of demand, we followed these with the equally deadly Behemoths in SigmaStorm II.

We began to expand our online presence with the aid of social networking, bringing FallenSword to Facebook in order to give our players another way to enjoy the game. Hunted Cow Studios also took up residence on FACEBOOK and TWITTER to make it even easier to keep up to date with game news and the progression of the new studio.

  • 2010

The new year saw the addition of Nixeh, Eldevin programmer, and Beelsebob, iPhone developer for our upcoming game app - Battle Dungeon! Yep, Apple got us too, and you can read more about Battle Dungeon on the home page!

OldLace, PhurieDae, Xero, Retroboy and Forn took a trip to Dundee earlier this year to Games in Scotland, where we (plus a few cuddly mascots) set up a stall and fielded questions from students and fellow developers in the games industry. We took down a stash of exclusive Eldevin art to show off and OldLace braced the crowds to give a presentation about the company, which stirred a lot of interest. We came away with a lot of CVs and a lot of enthusiasm - a great day!

  • With the finishing touches being put on our new studio, we added ^jt and LT to the Eldevin programming team and all piled into our much anticipated new workspace! With more space, better equipment and two new staff members, we're happy to say things are running along faster than ever! (We suspect that Hoofmaster's new Coke machine and its steady supply of sugar - after it stopped causing power cuts - may have helped with the productivity boost).

Later this year we are bringing in our first outside testers to take a run at Eldevin. Stay tuned for more updates! Check out our CONTACTS page for ways to keep up to date with every we're up to.
