Potion Composing Feature Released

September 10th, 2013

Developer Hunted Cow Studios is thrilled to announce a major update to its free-to-play, browser-based massively multiplayer role-playing game (MMORPG) Fallen Sword. Players can now design original potions and share them with guildmates or hoard them for personal use.

The long-awaited composing feature enables players to choose from 10 bottle designs and 50 colors (more coming) for their potions. They can mix and match up to five skills (aka buffs), determine the potion duration (from 30 minutes to five hours), and assign names to their concoctions. Tagging potions allows the rest of a player’s guild to enjoy them, too.

Players can increase the composing skill to level 50. Creating potions nets composing XP, which helps unlock new skills and increase the max level of current ones. Players can gain ingredients for potions by breaking apart items into fragments, based on their rarity (common, rare, unique, etc.), and gold.

Each potion takes more or less time to complete depending on its skills, but players can accelerate the process using gold (non-premium currency earned naturally through play).

Fallen Sword is Hunted Cow’s most popular game — a visual and text-based title that appeals to old-school adventurers and modern MMO enthusiasts alike. It debuted in August 2006 and currently has over 600,000 registered users. It features a dynamic world map made with HTML5, so it requires no browser plug-ins to work.

About Dapper Hat Games:

Dapper Hat Games is a graduate development team from the University of Abertay Dundee in Scotland. It originally formed to participate in the university’s 2012 Dare to Be Digital competition, which lasted nine weeks, with its debut game Mr. Montgomery’s Debonair Facial Hair.

In March 2013, Dapper Hat Games won the BAFTA in Scotland New Talent Award for Best Game, which kickstarted development for the second time. Despite troubles to secure funding, the group of close friends and passionate developers stuck together and are finally ready to release the game with publishing partner Hunted Cow Studios in November 2013. The studio currently consists of six members.
